He graduated from the University of Architecture at the Politecnico in Milan in 1937 and contributed to the drafting of a libel about Milan regulatory plan: "Fifty important squares of future Milan" with the architect Carlo Pagani in 1938.

Already in 1940 he was dedicated to industrial production tests with his brothers Livio (1911-1979) and Pier Giacomo (1913-1968). After graduating in architecture in 1944, he started searching for forms, techniques and new materials to develop an integral design process.
He is one of the founders of ADI in 1956. In 1969 he received the approval from the Ministry of Education for the teaching of "Artistic Design for Industry" and is a professor at the Faculty of Architecture of Turin until 1980, of "Industrial Design" in Milan until 1993.
